What makes or breaks a student visa

1. The money.

Every country wants to see you can pay tuition and living costs. They also want to know where the money came from. Education loans, family savings, fixed deposits and sponsors all work, if they're documented properly. Large unexplained deposits are the most common problem we see.

2. The reason.

Why this course? Why this country? How does it connect to what you studied and what you want to do? Officers read hundreds of statements a week. Generic answers stand out for the wrong reasons.

3. The interview.

For the US especially, you have a few minutes to show you're a genuine student. Students who rehearse in their own words do much better than students who memorise answers.

4. The rules for your country this year.

Canada has caps and attestation letters. The UK limits dependants for most master's students. Australia has the Genuine Student requirement and higher fees. The US asks students to keep social media public for vetting. Rules change every year, and we keep track so you don't have to.

For parents

You're often the sponsor, so your documents matter as much as your child's. We'll explain what's needed from you: ITRs, bank statements, property papers or a loan sanction letter. We'll also help you write a sponsorship letter that's clear and consistent.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

When should I start my student visa process?

As soon as you've accepted an offer. US students should check interview wait times immediately. UK students must plan around the 28-day funds rule. Canada and Australia applications can take several weeks.

Is an education loan accepted as proof of funds?

Yes, in most countries, as long as the sanction letter is from a recognised lender and covers the required amount.

I was refused a student visa. Can I reapply?

Yes, if you address the reason. We'll review the refusal letter and rebuild the application around it.

I have a study gap. Will that be a problem?

Not necessarily. Gaps are accepted when they're explained and supported by evidence, such as a job, a course or family responsibilities. Unexplained gaps cause trouble, not the gap itself.
